Covid Catch-Up, Sports & Pupil Premium Funding

The pupils have:

  • Opportunities to participate in the Kent School Games,
  • Opportunities to participate in an increasingly wider range of inter-school competitions
  • As part of the Kent Special School Association, pupils at Meadowfield School participate in a range of inter-school competitions with pupils from other PSCN schools

The school is continually seeking to strengthen the provision of Physical Education, through high quality PE lessons taught by subject specialists with specialist equipment.

The provision of outside coaches and purchase of the additional equipment has been funded through the Primary Sports Funding.

Swimming at Meadowfield School

Pupils are taught swimming in year 6. Each pupil has a minimum of one term of swimming in a group of a maximum of 4 pupils with 1 teacher and 1 teaching assistant. The teacher is ASA level 3 qualified. The children are assessed against the Swim England swimming progression skills using Discovery Duckling and Duckling levels. Duckling Awards are great at promoting increased independence and water confidence to help prepare for Stage 1 of the Learn to Swim Framework. Certificates and badges are awarded and celebrated in a key stage assembly. If pupils are able to swim already they will move through the Swim England Learn to Swim Framework stages 1-7.
