Caterpillars

Welcome to Caterpillar Class, part of the Early Years Foundation Stage at Meadowfield School.

Our class Teacher is: Sarah

Teaching assistants: Jade, Shannon and Eleanor.

Lunch assistant: Helen

We follow the Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum and Development Matters documents which cover seven areas of learning which are as follows:

  • Personal, Social and Emotional Development (PSED)
  • Communication and Language (CL)
  • Physical Development (PD)
  • Literacy (L)
  • Mathematics (M)
  • Understanding the World (UW)
  • Expressive Arts and Design (EAD)

Caterpillar Class learn through a combination of Planned Play and Adult Directed activities both indoors and outdoors. Learning outside is really important for our development.

Later in the year, we will be focussing on the topic ‘The Imaginary World, and we will be learning through a range of different ‘Supertato’ texts.

We will continue to explore our topic through a range of different sensory activities, so we might get messy at times.

  • Please could we have PE kits in school for a Wednesday.
  • Contact books will be sent home every day, please make sure they are returned each day.

Thank you to everybody for providing welly boots and waterproofs, it would be great if you could also provide spare clothes including socks.
