In Tadpoles we learn through a combination of Planned Play and Teacher Directed activities. We follow the Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum and Development Matters documents which cover seven areas of learning which are as follows:

  • Personal, Social and Emotional Development (PSED)
  • Communication and Language (CL)
  • Physical Development (PD)
  • Literacy (L)
  • Mathematics (M)
  • Understanding the World (UW)
  • Expressive Arts and Design (EAD)

During Term 6 we will be focusing on the topic ‘The seaside’ we will be looking at the stories 'Hooray for fish’, ‘Sharing a Shell’ and ‘Rainbowfish '. For our pupils to reach their full potential, a multi-sensory approach to teaching and learning is used. Songs and rhymes, dance, ‘messy’ play, sensory stories, small world and role play activities all aid children to develop their skills within the seven areas of learning.

Children have the opportunity to explore and investigate a wide range of different learning materials and within different environments including the sensory garden and the outside learning areas.
