Bluebells

Hello and welcome to Bluebells Class.

In Bluebells there are 10 pupils and 4 adults.

Our Class Team are:
Teacher: Kate

TA’s: Laura, Erica and Chloe, we also have Maria who helps us at lunchtime.

We follow the Explore curriculum which covers the following areas of learning:

  • Personal, Social and Emotional Development
  • Communication
  • Physical Development
  • Literacy
  • Mathematics
  • Knowledge & Understanding the World
  • Creative and Performing arts

We also follow the nurture ethos which helps us to socialize with our friends, take turns, share resources and sing songs. This helps our well-being throughout the day.

The Nurture ethos includes the following six principles:

  • Children's learning is understood developmentally.
  • The classroom offers a safe base.
  • The importance of nurture for the development of wellbeing.
  • Language is a vital means of communication.
  • All behaviour is communication.
  • The importance of transition in children's lives.

In the morning we have breakfast around the table, where each child will be assigned a job to complete, this could be distributing the utensils, setting up the table or washing up. In the afternoon we have snack which again offers the pupils to develop their communication, language and social skills. These sessions are voluntary and no child will be made to join in if they do not feel comfortable doing so.

In Term One we will be focussing on the topic ‘All about me and Journeys’.

We celebrate achievement consistently throughout the day and give ‘Star of the Day’ to the pupil who has received the most rewards that day.

We will explore our topic through a range of different sensory activities, so we might get messy at times. It is really helpful if we can have some spare clothes at school. Also, please could you provide welly boots and waterproofs as we will be learning outside the classroom throughout the year.

Reminders:

  • PE is each Wednesday with Conor the PE teacher
  • Music is each Monday with Cat the Music teacher
  • Contact books will be sent home each day, at the front of the book are the targets that your child we be working on throughout the week and at the back of the book is a section for comments. Please ensure the book is returned to school each day, so that we can communicate regularly with you.

Should you have any information during the week to be given to the class, please write in the contact book. If you have any additional information, you are welcome to phone the school and leave a message. I will endeavour to get back to you as soon as I possibly can, but please be aware that I attend meetings after school and may not be able to get back to you on the same day.
