Welcome to Butterflies
There are 10 pupils and our team consist of:
Teaching Assistants: Christine, Kayleigh and Lizzie
Carly - Midday meal supervisor
In our class, we follow a nurturing approach to the National Curriculum. We will be following an Explore curriculum that is tailored to suit the needs of each individual in the class. We carry out sensory circuits and Nurture activities daily to help our children engage and focus on their learning. The children have individual timetables to help them know their routine and expectations of the school day.
We provide pupils with a purposeful, fun and engaging learning environment where we encourage pupils to develop their independence and collaborative skills. Butterflies class uses total communication where we combine speech, symbols and signing.
Pupils have opportunities to work independently and in groups through differentiated learning activities. We will be developing each pupil’s independence skills by cooking, going for walks and exploring the wider community.
This year, we will be carrying out the following topics:
Term 1 – Journeys/Transport
Term 2 – Celebrations and Community
Term 3 – Pirates
Term 4- Fairy Tales (including castles)
Term 5 – Animals and Insects
Term 6 – Seaside and Weather
