Jays

Hello and welcome to Jays’ Class page, we are an Explore Class of key stage 3/4 pupils.

Our Class teacher is Amanda

The other adults to help us in our class are;
Kylie - Teaching assistant
Chloe – Teaching assistant
Kurt – Teaching assistant

In Jays class, we try to remember to do good listening and be kind to our friends. Jays class enjoy lots of sensory activities.

In term 4, our overarching theme is ‘books written by the same author. We will be looking at two books written by Raymond Briggs, Jim and the Beanstalk and Fungus and the Bogie Man. Comparing the stories. Then choosing their preferred book.

We will have a high focus on phonics and reading, which will be through multisensory learning. The children will have their own individual reading packs and phonics, as well as whole class teaching. We will be promoting reading right across the curriculum.

We will be covering exploratory science, through applying experience, participating in activities to develop knowledge and observational skills using scientific equipment. We will also cover plants. Looking at the different parts and the role they have in the plant’s life.

We will provide a nurturing environment, where social interaction and skills are promoted, through adults modelling, circle time, feelings visuals and opportunities to talk together. Breakfast and snack are very pivotal to develop responsibility (organising and gathering resources) and most importantly, developing communication. All children will be encouraged to participate in these activities.

PSHE is embedded across the day, as well as a separate lesson and this term we will be looking at friendships and taking turns.

Play is particularly important to us, as it builds the foundation skills of learning and social development. There will be opportunities to develop their imaginative skills, as a structured play lesson and also in free time, supported and modelled by an adult.
