Welcome to Wrens Class
Our adults in class are:

In our class, we follow a nurturing approach to learning. We will be following an Explore curriculum that is tailored to suit the needs of each individual in the class. Each day, we will follow a similar routine where the children will participate in sensory circuits, TEACCH activities (independent work) and fine motor skills. We teach subjects such as maths and English that is highly differentiated to suit the needs of individual children.
Our topics for the year are:
Term 1: The world around me- Super Me
Term 2: The world around me- Space
Term 3: The imaginary world- Dinosaurs
Term 4: The imaginary world- Traditional tales
Term 5: The natural world- Animals and Insects
Term 6: The natural world- Colour
We provide pupils with a purposeful, fun and engaging learning environment where we encourage pupils to develop their independence and collaborative skills. Wrens class uses total communication where we combine speech, symbols and signing. Pupils have opportunities to work independently and in groups through differentiated learning activities.
Term Four
In English we will be looking at Traditional tales. Stories we will be using are ‘The Three Little Pigs’, ‘The Billy Goats Gruff’, ‘The Gingerbread man’, Jack and the Beanstalk’ and The Enormous Turnip. We will be developing our listening and attention skills, reading and mark making/writing.
In maths we will continue to work on number especially addition and subtraction using concrete objects. We will also be exploring shape, size and weight.
In science we will begin the term by looking at materials around our environment, and towards the end of term we will investigate growing by planting our own seeds and beans.
The children will continue to work on their EHCP targets daily.
