Meadowfield wins Platinum Literacy Mark
On Monday 3rd October, Kate Alderdice from Meadowfield School attended the KM Charity Team Forum at the Mercure Great Danes Hotel.
The Primary Department take part in a reading initiative called 'Buster's Book Club'. This scheme is run in partnership with Kent County Council, Medway Council and KM Charity Team and the aim is to improve reading levels in schools by encouraging children to read for pleasure at home. We have been fortunate over the past few months to receive several awards from the challenge days set by the KM.
During the ceremony on Monday, we were delighted to receive the Platinum Literacy Mark for 2016, in recognition of the work delivered by school staff and parents to promote literacy during the past year.
In addition to reading at home, we have encouraged the pupils to read more during the school day. A reading room has been set up where pupils can choose to go and read independently, with an adult or with a group of friends. This have proved to be very popular and is improving our pupils progress in reading.« Back to Noticeboard
