Welcome to Daisies Class

We have 7 wonderful, happy pupils, who really enjoy learning new things and being extremely creative through all of their work. Our age range for this class is from Year 3 to Year 6.

Our Class Team is
Class Teacher: Mrs Kambanga

Teaching Assistants:

In our class, we follow a thematic approach to the National Curriculum. We will be following an Explore curriculum that is tailored to suit the needs of each individual in the class. Each day we will also have a series of sensory circuit activities to help our pupils integrate and engage in their learning sometimes in group sessions and some 1:1 learning taking place each day. We have access to the key stage 2 playground and have a lovely outside space with lots of resources to help the children learn. All pupils use individual timetables so that they understand their routine and expectations for the day. All children are rewarded for all their efforts throughout the week with some choosing time of a reward of their choice.

We provide pupils with a purposeful, fun and engaging learning environment where we encourage pupils to develop their independence and collaborative skills. Daisies’ class uses total communication where we combine speech, symbols and signing.

As shown below our classroom environment has lots of space and some sensory activities that we can access throughout the day as and when we need some sensory feedback.

Please read our Home Learning for more information on what we are learning and ways to support us.

During Term 1 we will be exploring our learning focusing on ‘Travel and Transport’ topic and our focus book will be ‘Journey Home from Grandpa’. Throughout this term we will also be focusing on our emotions to continue with our well-being theme. In Mathematics, we will be extending our knowledge of numbers so that we will confidently, consistently identify and apply 1-10 to our everyday life skills. During our literacy we will be focusing on comprehension in our English stories and reading as part of our guided reading section. We will focus on our Phonics and sounds to support our reading and not forgetting all the creativity for our art to support out talented crafts to make the story come to life. During our science we will be looking at experiments to see how sound is produced, how sound travels and experience the sensory benefit that can be drawn from sound waves (Gong therapy). PSHE will be a cross curricular activity and some extra support throughout the term when required. We will be focusing on developing an awareness of our emotions and on sharing and turn taking during activities.
